I’m so excited to be hosting our next Good Ancestor Get-Together with Dr. Jennifer Mullan! (register here)
Date: Thursday, October 19th
Time: 10.30am PT / 1.30pm ET / 6.30pm UK
Jennifer Mullan, Psy.D is a dynamic international speaker, professor, healer-spiritualist, scholar-activist and widely known as the Rage Doctor ™. Dr. Jennifer Mullan is the author of the forthcoming book Decolonizing Therapy: Oppression, Historical Trauma & Politicizing Your Practice, and the creator of the popular Instagram account @decolonizingtherapy.
She is also an organizational consultant, teacher, course creator, community builder, and decolonized mental health movement starter. She has been featured in Allure, GQ, The Today Show, Cosmopolitan, and The Calgary Journal; and received ESSENCE magazine’s 2020 Essential Hero Award in the category of Mental Health.
She continues to lead the charge–challenging how therapists are educated and how they practice. Dr. Mullan has educated thousands of therapists, psychologists, social workers, and helpers as they UNLEARN & UNDO colonial & Eurocentric methods of helping. Dr. Jennifer Mullan birthed Decolonizing Therapy ®, a psychological evolution that weaves together political, ancestral, therapeutic and global well-being.
I’m excited to speak with Dr. Jenn because we cannot talk about justice and healing without talking about colonialism and the medical industrial complex.
As I write in Me and White Supremacy, “You cannot dismantle what you cannot see. You cannot challenge what you do not understand.”. Dr. Jenn’s work helps us to see and understand the roots of the core wounds of colonialism, so that we can truly begin to heal.
In her book and during our conversation, we will talk about:
The violent and oppressive history of the mental health industrial complex
The impact of colonialism on the way we approach therapy and mental health care
The way indigenous practices have been systematically stolen and stripped of their cultural and spiritual significance and how they can be reclaimed and restored
How therapy, healing, and mental health are political–who is left behind or excluded by the current system and how they can be welcomed back
How traditional and non-traditional helpers, healers, and space holders can begin to do the work differently starting now
Join us for what is sure to be a powerful conversation!

And don’t worry if you can’t make it live - a captioned recording will be shared here on Patreon.
It’s time to decolonize therapy. I’ll see you at the Get-Together :)
To healing + justice,
Layla
