It’s time for our very first Good Ancestor Get-Together! (register here)
When I relaunched my Patreon page earlier this year, I knew I wanted to incorporate some community/live podcast type events too.
Community is such an important part of healing and justice work, and while written words are transformative - the spoken word can take us to even deeper levels.
As a podcast host, I’ve always loved having intimate conversations about the meaning of, well, everything. But I often wish listeners could be there with us while we were having these transformative moments of clarity and reflection.
And that’s why I’ve created the Good Ancestor Get-Togethers. A series of patron-only virtual live events.
Here’s what you can expect from the Get-Togethers:
Inspiring conversations with authors, activists, and creators who are doing good ancestor work in the world.
75 minute calls that feature a 1:1 interview with me and our guest, and a Q&A portion for patrons
Access to all upcoming events and recordings of all past events, for as long as you are a patron
A nourishing conversation to inspire you on your healing and justice journey
Our first Get-Together is with Tanmeet Sethi on Wednesday, October 11 (09:30 PT / 12.30 ET / 17:30 UK)
Tanmeet is a MD–Physician, Activist, Author, and Speaker, all with the mission to upend systems of oppression. She offers Integrative medicine and sacred Psychedelic-guided therapies for healing, through the lens of equity and justice.
She is also the author of the book Joy Is My Justice: Reclaim What Is Yours.
“Joy Is My Justice is a radical guide to Joy as a path to liberation in your body, where the truest Justice has always lived. It is rooted in powerful stories of the human capacity to heal, potent guided exercises and meditations, and accessibly translated neuroscience. If you think finding Joy is too hard, too much to hope for, or only for people who are “resilient enough,” this book is for you. Your pain isn’t your fault and you no longer need to feel broken.
Each one of us will endure great pain throughout life, sometimes multiple times, and usually beyond our control. An invitation to everyone whom "wellness" has left behind, Joy Is My Justice will help you rediscover your Joy, not as a destination or solution, but as a profound practice for healing. You can reclaim Joy—as you reclaim your personal power, strength, and purpose—despite the burden of living in an unjust world, past traumas, and what a whitewashed wellness world says about your capacity to do so.
Every footstep you take toward Joy is a radical act of Justice. Joy is your revolution.”
I am excited to share this conversation with you, especially as I’ve been on a journey of healing from burnout, and finding my joy as a late-discovered neurodivergent person.
If you follow me on social media, you’ll know I’ve been finding my joy through art and creativity. Joy Is My Justice has been a guiding light for me during this time, and I can’t wait for us to speak with Tanmeet.

And don’t worry if you can’t make it live - a captioned recording will be shared on Patreon.
Let’s go get our joy! I’ll see you at the Get-Together
To healing + justice,
Layla
